Casa Daci is situated in the heart of Altea, with the boutique shops, restaurants and bars of the Old Town mere steps away. Please be aware that the Old Town of Altea is built on a hill, and individuals with low mobility may find some of these steep stepped streets quite a challenge. Right next to Casa Daci is the Mirador Blanc for amazing views. Of course as you wander the medieval cobbled streets of Altea there are spectacular views awaiting you around every corner.
When you are done wandering through the Old Town, the beach and Altea's welcoming Paseo del Mediterraneo is a short 5 minute walk down from Casa Daci. The beaches in this area are all blue flag beaches, and many water activities can be enjoyed depending on how active you want to be.
The area is also popular with walkers and hikers. There are several National Parks nearby with many footpaths. You can find hundreds of recommended routes on apps like Wikilok and Komoot. Just take your picnic and head out into the surrounding hills.
The cycling in this region is renowned, and many international clubs come to this area throughout the year to train. There are several local bike rental companies, and we have plenty a space to store bikes securely on site.
Guadalest (c. 22km from Altea) is a very pretty and historic small town, and one of the most popular tourist destinations in the Costa Blanca area. Guadalest is a village sitting on top of a mountain. The village appears perched on a tiny pinnacle rising into the sky which makes it look absolutely amazing. This gives beautiful views of the green valley with many other mountains in the background. Guadalest is famous for two buildings: First is Guadalest castle (Castell de Guadalest) which can only be accessed by walking through a 15 foot long tunnel carved out of the rock. This is known as the Portal de San Jose. The other famous building that you will often see photographed or on postcards is the white bell tower of Penon de la Alcala which rises up seemingly precariously perched on the mountainside.
Alicante Wine Region: This area used to famous due to the dessert wines produced here, however these days the wines from Alicante have evolved and are reaching new heights. This region attracts many visitors due to the proximity to the seaside and tourist areas, with many adding some wine-tasting to their vacation schedule.
One of our favourite wineries is the Bodega Enrique Mendoza, where you can have a tour followed by a tasting (with complimentary meats and cheeses). The tours need to be booked in advance at https://bodegasmendoza.com/. It is located a short 8 km taxi-ride from Casa Daci. Other wine tasting options in the area would be Bodega Pepe Mendoza (33km) https://bodegasmendoza.com/, or Cellar Mar de Vins (10km) https://cellermardevins.com/. Several local restaurants/shops offer wine tastings also, such as Vetitum, Gourmet Losada or Restaurante Casa Vital.
In the unlikely event of a rainy afternoon, we have a range of board games that the guests can have access to upon request. Of course streaming services such as Netflix are easily accessed on the television.
We respect guests' privacy and we will leave you in peace to enjoy your time in Altea. Of course we are also readily available by phone or SMS (or in person since we live in the lower apartment) for any questions you may have.
